Not How I Had It Planned 3

This whole week has been on big cluster fuck. Except for Saturday night, I got drunk and it was fun.
Monday, I was on call. I don't particularly remember the day other than I think I cut a twist on a little Jersey. We had a meeting in Meadville but I spent a lot of the night texting with the tech on call about various cases before coming back to the office for an emergency sanitary clip.
Tuesday, I had to go way into Ohio to vaccinate a few horses. I ended up cleaning a sheath which I like almost as much as cat enemas. (I'm being completely real.) When I got back they were finished with appointments but the emergencies began. We had a cat with an abscessand a really bad eye. A cat with a UTI. Then a proptosed eye. Then a 'colicky' horse. The eye went really well for the dog. Unfortunately, it was going to be two hours before the vet student (who everyone loves! He's super nice and having a penis probably doesn't hurt!) and I could get out there. The people's regular vet couldn't get out there...at all. :( So we went out and the horse had left the barn as was down in a muddy field. He was pawing, flopping around and trying to get up. He couldn't. His heart rate was so high that he was throwing up a murmur. Not good. It was likely that he needed euthanized. A quick call to CB and we went back to do the deed. He was almost there so I went running back to tell the owner but the horse passed on his own. We got home way too late. On the way back, we saw a dead mule in a field.
Wednesday, I was rudely awoken by the cats. (See my previous post.) I also woke up with very little voice. I had a bunch of surgeries but we were rocking them out. Then we hit a road block as we were finishing a large Rottie spay. It was a devastating road block. Then the last surgery-a dental-was canceled because we found a giant tumor in the dog's mouth. Then I had a Boy Scout tour. This group didn't have as good of a time as the last group though. The dad's were grossed out and neglected to tell me their time restraints up front.
Today, I was looking forward to getting off fairly early but didn't. I still don't have a voice. I had to call a cat litter company (called Precious Cat) in regards to a cat I saw that I thought that had an allergic reaction to the litter. The woman on the other end essentially called me a liar. That the product could not and did not cause what I was describing. Feel free to bash this company on the Internet. I was told by a client that I looked expectant. Ugh. Then when I was ready to go home, we got a call for a calving. It was a head back and despite being able to feel all of the head, I couldn't get it around. So I ended up cutting it off. It was like six when I got home. Or later. And on the way home, one of the lids of my truck box flew open!
It was like seven when I wanted to get in bed with Joe. It didn't happen.
So now I'm on the couch and need to get up and wash coveralls.

In the area of TMI, Joe and I are planning on starting a family soon. He's wanting to to do some genetic testing before. Another part of this, is actually having to ovulate. I haven't had a period since August. While convenient, it doesn't get babies made. So I went to the doctor and got some bloodwork done. Prolactin and thyroid levels. I don't know the results. So I started progesterone on Monday. I looked up when I should start having my period after finishing progesterone. I didn't find any good websites with good info. Just message boards. They made me feel like this is just the first step in fertility treatments. I really don't want to have to do fertility treatments.

I had a long night. I woke up for a split second at 5:30 am from a dream. In that split second, Herbie chased Bess from her spot on my pillow and across my face. (Not the first time it's happened.) Unfortunately a claw ended up on my eyelid. I was sure when I went to the bathroom and managed to open my eye that a chunk would be missing and I would have to go to the ER. Luckily, it was just my lid. I won't have to wear a pirate patch!

Last Saturday, I was off but needed to go to work to meet a client about euthanizing their dog. She had come in the day before in a semi-comatose state and had not improved. Anyway, I was laying in bed regretting having made these arrangements when I get a text from Joe that said 'I wrecked the Jeep'. Nothing more. So I get up and hear the phone ring while I'm in the bathroom. I figure he rearended someone, was rearended or hit a deer. I call him back and a stranger answered. Joe had handed the phone off to him, an ambulance was on the way. Where the accident was wasn't too far away so I drove up there as they were closing the ambulance doors. I followed to the hospital and Joe was fine.
The Jeep was not. The insurance company ended up totaling it out. We got the money on Friday. State Farm is pretty quick. Today, we bought the car below. It's a decent car and we got a fair deal. Unfortunately, the check engine light came on on the way home. Oh well.
