And now for the most brillant idea that I have had in a long, long time. It all came to me one night when I had a dream. And in this dream LeFisch and I were watching Ludo play. We however seemed to be in an aisle of a grocery store near the canned green beans and Ludo was playing in front of the meat case. And so was born THE ROCK 'N' ROLL GROCERY STORE.
Everyone has to buy groceries. Science has proven time and time again that the human body, even that of poor college students, can not go without food. And why should you go about a mundane task without getting a little entertainment along with it. And who likes to go to the store only to fight with the old purple haired ladies and soccer moms with four kids in tow. I don't and I work at a grocery store! What if there was a store oriented towards poor college kids? Something with a complete selection of the foods that college kids eat-mac 'n' cheese, Ramen noodles and cereal.
My complete idea is this-a grocery store/music venue/bar. This idea would only work in a college town. It would have to be located close to campus-ideally within walking distance. ( I think that the current location of Eastgate Foods would suit this nicely.) Also it wouldn't have to be large. It wouldn't have any fancy departments-no deli, no custom meats, no floral...It would however as stated earlier have a large selection of cereal, Ramen noodles, and mac 'n' cheese. It would also have a nice organic food department because I have found that indie rock people like organic or vegitarian food. There would be a large liquor department because how can it be a college grocery store without one? Value would be the key though for the college student dollar. There would be rock music playing overhead through the speakers and TVs playing music videos at various locations. I wouldn't have uniforms-clothes that you would wear to rock shows or to work at Hot Topic would be considered appropriate. I would have t-shirts-the logo is a band of food (called The Food Group) playing-a carrot drummer, a noodle bassist, a cheese guitarist and a can of soup for the singer/guitarist. Hours would be from like 11 am to 3 am so you could shop after last call and the show. Who gets up before 11 in a college town other than the professors?
And the music venue/bar would be attached. There would be no groceries in the venue and no alcohol in the store. Sorry those are the rules. There would be a small charge on the nights that bands played. When bands played they could set up their merch booths at the endcaps of aisles. There would be a small section of the store that would be for merch from bands to or that had played.
Right now the store is called-'The Rock 'N' Roll Grocery Store' until I find something more clever and creative. The slogan is '...because food rocks!' Rachel came up with that. I think its pretty good.
Anyone willing to invest in such an idea should send me some money. Martha, talk to your Schnucks connections. I see big things for The Rock 'N' Roll Grocery Store.
