Well. I went camping and have the bug bites all over my legs and feet to prove it. Riley went with us and was the most amazing dog she's ever been. (With perhaps the exception of when I make her wear costumes.) I won't go into details about camping but check out Riley's blog because hers is pretty accurate about the events.
Joe and I are finally moved into the new apartment together! As I write this, Joe is asleep in OUR apartment in HIS bed with MY dog. Riley seriously has spent the entire day asleep with Joe. I think she'll have to go to the dog park to wear off some energy tonight. There is alot of stuff left to do with the apartment unpacking wise. There are pictures to hang and cabinets to reorganize. There are skillets and plastic cups to throw out. Seriously, we have about a dozen of each. I am very excited about this apartment thing and will continue to be so until there is a huge arguement or I have to go back to school. Until then, I get to set women's lib back about 30 years and play the happy homemaker. Which I will with fierce intensity. There are clothes to sew and meals to cook, damnit!
I was supposed to go to the Ozark Empire Fair with the mules today but honestly, I didn't want to. I'm tired.
I picked up my entries from the Boone County Fair today. I won a second place ribbon with my rumen pillow but was told it would of been better had I labeled the parts of the stomach. I knew this but all of my labeling stuff was packed away. I won thrid place with my apple cake. While I am pleased with getting the ribbon I was not pleased with the comments which were that the cake was undercooked. Not so because I know for a fact that I OVERcooked this cake. Unfortunately, apple cake isn't your typical cake-it bakes more like a bread pudding in consistancy than a chocolate cake does. Anyway, next year there are certain to be some more entries from me-perhaps some cookies, some dog costumes?
This week, sadly, we are going to have one of our horses euthanized. Lacey is only three but has chronic renal failure, which typically horses, not even old ones, don't get. We are having her necropsied and I plan on sitting in on it because I am very curious as to why.
