And in my normal Sunday fashion, I am doing laundry and checking out all of this internet stuff.
I got paid so today may also entail a trip to the grocery store.
All in all, the week wasn't too bad. We had some really warm day and some really, really cold mornings. I am still getting made fun of for not having a coat. These are flashbacks to when Frei didn't have a coat...of course, I am in Florida for the winter and she was in Missouri. See the difference?
Anyway, on one of the incredibly warm February days, I found out the true meaning of being a roadie...other than carrying incredibly heavy stuff around (a full bucket of cotton, an X-ray machine, a very tiny ultrasound machine, etc) (Hey, my emo boy diet could come to life here! I drive, I carry things and I wear dirty clothes! Yes! Break out the Ramen noodles!) Anyway, back to the true meaning of being a roadie, you have to wash the truck. So I washed it because what was I going to say? No? Dr. Matthews is an intmidating man and frightfully strong. He doesn't ask you to move, he pushes you where he wants you. Which brings me to the next thing, when I am driving along, I do just that-drive. Sometimes I think about things but primarily about my speed, where I'm at, how I'm going to manage to avoid the cops, where the 90°curves are, etc, etc. So it thoughly disturbs me when Dr.Matthews chooses to intrupt my focus by punching me in my shoulder and ask me what I'm thinking. Or punching me in the shoulder and say that he thought I was asleep. My answer was that I was thinking about rabbits, which I was.
Vet stuff? Hmmm...still waiting on the letter from vet school regarding a hypothetical interview that would bring me back to the Show Me State. But things I have seen...a newborn dwarf miniature horse bred by the receptionist (it was roughly the size of a large cat). I learned the proper way to give shots so sometimes I do that for the vet. I nearly got attacked by a broodmare when she was getting an ovuplant. I helped take a bunch of X-rays. Everything starts running together so I can't remember. A mare (bred-near full term) we tranquized with Dorm and Torb to put a catheter in her eye. However, she had a really bad reaction and started hyperventalating. Her gums were purple because she couldn't get any air. Then we gave her epinephrine and she was better but sweating so much that steam was rolling off of her. The next day she had a fever even though she was on Bute(?). The vet palpated her but couldn't feel the baby move. He sent her to the clinic and they couldn't get the baby to move but got a heartbeat with the ultrasound. The day after that she redbagged the baby, but I think both are okay-not good but okay. How these things are connected, no one is sure of but it was really interesting to see.
