MySpace-September 17, 2007-Ludo Concert

Well, let's recap last week. Had a test Monday and got a D. However, it seems to be the average for that test though no official word has come out yet. Had a test on Friday and got an A.
Riley made a new friend this weekend. I had my neighbor, classmate and friend, Laura, watch her while I went to Lawrence for the Ludo show. I came back early and Laura stopped by on Sunday afternoon with her dog, Lily. Riley was excited to see them both. They trotted around the place wagging tails (or butts in Riley's case) and Riley jumped up and down on Laura. Another misbehaved vet student dog. At least, she's not big.
So anyway, Saturday afternoon I drove out to Lawrence. Of course, that day KU had a home game so the town was hopping. I found a very close parking space, ate some chipotle and waited on the show. Two bands played, then ABJ and then Ludo. Justin and this girl Zoey showed up as did Dave (Allison) and his girlfriend. (I'm holding off comments on that.)
Anyway, I've decided that I'm too old for this kind of stuff. I get tired easily. And it was loud. And the average age in the room was roughly 18 give or take a few years. And Ludo doesn't appricate me as much as I think they should. (Whatever. That's my own issue and I know the answer to it.) And it also made me realize how little I cared about the people on the message board. They didn't recognize me not that I recognized them. I could care less about you or the Warrensburg people or the KC people or pretty much anyone else.
As for the show its self, Ludo has now taken to having two huge inflatable cherries on stage. I hate it. Not entirely though. Tim Ferrell kept running into them. Tim is looking more like his old self-dark t-shirts (very emo-y though because of how tiny it was), dark jeans (I think they were girl jeans) and while not his patented rock boots, chuck, which are better anyday than what he was pulling off before. His hair as always was a mane of beauty. Longer than normal and perhaps darker too. If I could have his hair (or Martha's very similar hair), I would grow my hair out. Overall, their set was good. Not great, but good. No Kevin Arnold or Laundry Girl.
As for ABJ, they were fantastic! Now they had some kinks that come with not playing together on stage for years and they had some equipment problems but the show was really good. I wish now that I had taken the time to get to know them like I know Ludo. It wouldn't of been hard. Anyway, I think that had it not been for assorted problems (most of which probably came from bloated egos (I might be wrong about this)), that Anything But Joey is the better band compared to Ludo. Their songs, granted made using the cookbook formula of pop punk, are better and catchier. They are very comparable with wit and hooky lines as to Fall Out Boy. I miss ABJ.

And in my lament, here are some short stories of times past. Remember the first time we saw Ludo? It was May, we were sophomores, Leslie Hall was pouting about not going to GDI back in the dorms, there was a tornado and it was just Tim Ferrell and Andrew? Remember taking over alot of the computer labs on campus to vote for Ludo to win something? Remember going to St.Joe and leaving impossibly late only to make a detour into Kansas? Remember going to St.Joe to see ABJ over Thanksgiving break and hearing that they were breaking up, Martha? Remember them dedicating a song to me because I knew all of the words to every song and you, Martha, getting mad because you burned me the CDs? Remember trying to sneak the ferret into the Blue Note? Remember Brad Savage? Remember standing behind the Blue Note rolling up t-shirts for the breaking fall tour? Remember riding in the van over to Justin and Erica's house? Remember meeting Justin and Erica? Remember sitting in the van listening to Broken Bride out at Midway? Yeah, good times.
