My new hero is Dr. Dan Hassett, my immunology professor. Despite the fact that my grades are pretty good in immuno, I don't particularly enjoy the class. It means little to me in the grand scheme of things. However, yesterday, Dr.Hassett got onto his soap box about how we, as future veterinarians, should at least know about the proposed infectious disease research center that MU (?) is trying to get. Anyway, what made him my hero is that he basically said that the only reason there is veterinary medicine in the US is because of food animals. To protect our food supply. Cats and dogs are nice but cows are important. THANK YOU! That's exactly what I've been trying to tell people. So I thanked him after class. Its cool.
